- If you look closely at the pattern of language, the
question is "somehow" straightforward.
- When I use the words "straight forward,"
mean the reason for creating heat Islands are multidimensional which we
need to interlink through a command chain of the various factors of heat
Islands.
- The question is not about seeking the solution,
but, in fact, at the primary instance is asking only for the reason for creating the heat Islands.
- Second the playing field is at the world level,
so, we don't need to differentiate between our surroundings and at the
world level, as, reason and circumstances are the same.
- Why I am saying so because the word limit restricts
us to the general explanation, if, the same question has been
asked in the essay writing then there could be a peculiar example
that differentiates the outcomes at the world level, and, with respect of
India, at the local level.
- Third, we need to drive the answer approach in the context of the habitat.
Structure of Answer-
1. Introduction- with one effective fact and definition
of a heat Island
2. Reasons, in a cause-and-effect relationship, for creating a heat island habitat.
3. One substantial point of final understanding.
4. Futuristic conclusion.
Answer-
- By the year 2050, 68% world's population
will be urbanised, which, concerning India, would be 50%
means urbanisation is an indispensable development of the future, now, it
depends upon us whether it will yield a "net positive" or
"net negative" results.
- In geographical terms Island is a land portion that is surrounded by water bodies, so if we put the word Island it means, "an area which is comparatively warmer surrounded by an average
temperature." Now, if the environment is the composition of 03 components-
nature, human-made, and human- heat Islands are part of the human-made environment which is primarily driven by the "unplanned-&- irrational
anthropogenic process" of urbanisation.
Causes of
heat island formation-
1. It starts with deforestation by clearing and levelling
the land, causing less transpiration resulting in less cloud formation, so less
precipitation, which means a higher rate of evaporation with consequences of dry area
& higher amount of absorbing insulation.
2. The present-day building materials such as cement,
asphalt, bricks, glass, steel, and dark paint have high insulating capacity, along with it, high high-rise buildings, which means over a per-unit-area we
have a "multiple unit area insulation", along with an irrational amount
of albedo.
3. Now, higher heat needs coolant, so we use coolers,
fridges, air conditioners etc. means creating more power supply demand
that is more burning of fossil creating endless multiple channel of cause
-&- effect relationship.
4. We are producing more and more waste heat through industrialised activities, another reason for creating access to heat.
Heat land habitat is mainly a phenomenon of warm nights happening because the high amount of received insolation causes "long duration terrestrial radiation in night."
Heat islands surrounded by lower temperatures, now, when we look closely, those are semi-urban and rural areas. If we follow the heat curve, the semi-urban and rural
areas are closer to nature means urbanisation, which is the
future, but if "society -&- state" does not create a nature-friendly environment, ultimately we will pay the price. It is the society that needs to
lead, supplemented by the state through legislation(s), by changing its lifestyle so that urbanization is eco-friendly.
